Mercedes Textiles introduces new hose technology and digital tools engineered to improve control, efficiency, and decision-making
APRIL 16, 2026 — MONTREAL, QC, CANADA
Mercedes Textiles Ltd. is advancing its commitment to the modern fire service with the launch of two new fire hose technologies and two digital tools—each designed to solve specific operational challenges and help firefighters work with greater precision.
Built from direct feedback across North American fire departments, these innovations reflect a focused approach to product development: identifying real-world friction points and engineering solutions that improve performance where it matters most.
“The best ideas we work on don’t come from a boardroom—they come from the fireground. Our job is to listen, understand the problem, and deliver solutions that give firefighters more control, better visibility, and tools that make the job easier.”
Bob Richardson, President of Mercedes Textiles Ltd
Advancing Line Control with LPX Technology
Leading the release is Mercedes Textiles’ patent-pending LPXTM (Low Pressure eXpansion) Technology, designed to enhance the performance of small diameter attack lines operating at lower pressures.
LPX reinforces the nozzle-end of the hose to reduce whipping and kinking—improving control during advancement without sacrificing the lightweight flexibility firefighters depend on. Mercedes has integrated this new technology into two of their small diameter lines, KrakenEXO® LPX 1.5” and ExoMetro® LPX 1.75”.
These configurations deliver flows of 150–160 GPM at 50–75 PSI, with up to 30% less weight compared to traditional setups—supporting faster, more agile attack packages that prioritize speed and maneuverability. Streamlining Inventory with RFID-Enabled Couplings
Mercedes Textiles is also expanding its patented WAYOUT® couplings with RFID-enabled functionality, evolving its iDENTIFY® system to meet growing equipment tracking demands.
Developed at the request of a large urban department, the upgraded RFiDENTIFYTM couplings feature recessed, epoxy-sealed RFID labels that allow departments to scan and inventory entire hosebeds in seconds. Built for durability and compatibility with existing RFID systems, this solution offers large departments a faster, more efficient way to manage equipment accountability without adding operational complexity.
Expanding Digital Tools on KnowYourHose.com
Alongside its hardware innovations, Mercedes Textiles continues to invest in digital tools through KnowYourHose.com—helping firefighters and apparatus committees make more informed decisions.
Hose Bed Capacity Calculator
This tool allows users to estimate how much hose can fit within a given tray configuration. By inputting hose type, diameter, tray dimensions, and desired line length, departments can quickly model hosebed layouts and optimize apparatus design. Try it now at KnowYourHose.com/capacity
Compare Specs Tool
Building on the Know Your Hose Spec Library, this feature enables side-by-side comparison of up to three hose configurations—making it easier to evaluate options and select the right line for specific operational needs. Try it now at KnowYourHose.com/compare
Engineered for Real-World Performance
Together, these innovations reinforce Mercedes Textiles’ approach to product development—grounded in firefighter input and focused on delivering practical, measurable advantages on the fireground.
Mercedes Textiles will showcase these technologies at FDIC International 2026, where attendees can see the latest advancements firsthand. Visit KnowYourHose.com to access the online tools & learn more.
